About Us

The Baxter family own and operate a farm management, contracting and agri-business on the Leicestershire and Warwickshire border near the historic town of Market Bosworth. We have diversified and expanded over the course of two decades to become what we are today, a highly skilled and enthusiastic family farming business specialising in growing combinable crops and operating in the “Top 25%” of arable farm businesses.

We focus on a “ground up” approach and place soil health at the core of our decision-making. In the past decade we have implemented a wider rotation that includes a more diverse range of crops, spreading seasonal risk in commodity markets and weather as well as allowing us to adopt reduced tillage and no-till establishment techniques. One example of the benefits we are now seeing is the success in growing oilseed rape in recent years at a time when many in the UK have given up on it. 

As we move to ELMS, we believe our approach will integrate well with the sustainable farming incentive soil standards whilst maintaining production at high standards. The land we manage is a valuable asset that must be looked after for future generations. We encourage our customers to enter an environmental stewardship scheme and are happy to work with them in maximising its benefits. With our help, less productive areas of the farm or estate can be planted with options to boost the flora and fauna and protect features such as watercourses and hedgerows for a richer environment and overall enjoyment of the local landscape.
